52 Week Challenge: Color Block

Well, I did my hands green and yellow for the Packers game today.

They lost. 😦

I had debated removing the nailpolish, but I remembered I needed to do this week’s mani challenge. And, my first one? Um…let’s say I’m glad I didn’t have my camera, because they were absolutely HORRIBLE.

It's BLOCKY!

POLISHES USED:

  • Sally Hansen HD: Lite
  • Ulta: Envy
  • Sally Hansen Lacquer Shine: Spark
  • China Glaze “Fairy Dust”
  • Gelous (base coat)
  • Seche Vite

I used Lite as my “base coat”, which I had put on the night before. I used painter’s tape to mark off the areas being block-ed. One of the things I ran in to with my first attempt was that, because the polish wasn’t completely dry, the paint took everything when I removed it. One of the reasons it was so failtastic. I then applied Envy, and then Spark.

Close up. See the uneven lines? 😦

Spark is an old color. I’d loosely loop it as a duo-chrome. I got it, initially, because it looked dark blue. It’s even dark blue on my nail wheel. However, in the bottle, you can see where it’s purple. I love how it makes a good contrast between the green and the yellow.

I picked up Fairy Dust, along with a couple other polishes (and Gelous/Vite) last week, after I got paid. I’ll have to do some swatches and reviews for the other two. It’s a clear polish with scattered holos in it. I didn’t realize it, but it’s pretty much a dupe of INM’s Northern Lights topcoat, only without the topcoat formula and the shaking. I’m not complaining, though. I like the shinines. 🙂

I’ll be doing reviews on the other colors soon.

  1. Ah, it is nice to know I wasn’t the only one having trouble with this challenge. To lighten things up, I really adore your design and colour choices!!

    • Based on a lot of the blogs I was reading, this was a troublesome one, if only because no one knew what they were doing or what a “color block” mani was.

    • *snerk* That is a hilarious story. (and it was the WRONG sparkles: I wore green and yellow glitter through the playoffs last year. WHY DID I CHANGE? No, they didn’t lose because the Giants played better: it was all about the polish. LoL)
